Beginning with Vigil Mass on Christmas Eve and concluding with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, the liturgical season of Christmas is one of celebration and joy. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus our Lord, we also reflect on the meaning of his gift of salvation.
"Joy is the true gift of Christmas, not expensive presents that demand time and money. We can transmit this joy simply: with a smile, with a kind gesture, with some small help, with forgiveness. Let us give this joy and the joy given will be returned to us." (Pope Benedict XVI; Homily at Mass; December 18, 2005)
