Our family formation program had its opening session for the 2012-2013 year on Sunday September 16 - Catechetical Sunday.
Catechetical Sunday is a special day on the liturgical calendar for acknowledging the important role catechists play in handing on the faith.
Members of our formation team were presented to the parish community during the Family Mass. Team members pledged their commitment to assist the families we care for and received a special blessing. During this mass, parents and guardians were recognized as the primary teachers of the faith for their children and were also given a special blessing to strengthen them with this sacred duty.
After mass, our families gathered in the church hall for the welcoming session. Our catechists and their assistants were able to introduce themselves to the families and give a short overview of what they hope to share with the children in their classes. Parents/guardians were given the opportunity to sign up for several ministries and vocational groups our parish has as were the children.
We are very proud of our families and the team that serves them. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event truly welcoming for the new year.
