From the moment of conception the human soul is in conversation with God. Upon birth, it is seen as a creature formed in the image and likeness of God. This includes the possession of free will. In the baptism of a new soul, parents choose eternal life in Jesus Christ for their child. It is in this choice that free will is formed into the ability to choose right from wrong. To help our parish families in the formation of their children we offer several programs with age appropriate material. Instruction is offered in formal classroom settings as well as retreat style events. Parents are encouraged to continue their own faith formation.
To assist parents in their sacred duty of passing on the faith we offer a family formation program. Hee, children ages 3 to 13 years obtain basic knowledge of the Catholic faith in a structured setting. Just as we must learn to walk before we can run, so too must a soul be developed. It is for this reason that we strongly urge children receive continual instruction through the levels to ensure a solid foundation of faith.
Our current text series are the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies. This series is liturgically based and centers on the Sunday Gospel. Catholic doctrine is reinforced in individual workbooks given to each child.
The transitional stage from child to young adult can often be a confusing journey. Support from peers and mentors can make this path easier to walk. Offering a variety of experiences, from spiritual to secular, enables our youth to build confidence in themlseves. The bonds of friendship our teens form will set the stage for networking later in life. This program is aimed at youth ages 13-18 years old.
